Clayton finally decided to make his entrance into the world this past Thursday evening. He really surprised all of us by going 6 days past his due date! We have all been so excited to finally meet him and we certainly never thought that his birthday would be in March instead of February! After a long and slow labor, he arrived happy and healthy, with a very quick and easy delivery. We are so thankful to the Lord for blessing us with this new little boy and we are so thankful he is finally here!

Caleb and Kathryn have been anxiously anticipating Clayton's arrival for the past few weeks. Everyday they would ask me if baby Clayton was going to come today and why he was taking such a long time to come out! Kathryn loved to sing to him and tell him about what she was doing. Caleb kept asking questions trying to figure out what the baby will be able to do. "Can he do summer saults when he is only zero? Can he hear me talking? Can he stretch out? What is he going to do when he is born? He won't be able to eat, only drink right?" And so on! After Clayton's due date came and went I began trying anything I could to bring on labor. On Wednesday afternoon I tried some really hot sauce from Mo's. Caleb was watching me eat it and suffer through each extremely hot bite. He kept asking me why I was eating that yucky stuff. I told him that sometimes hot things would make the baby come out sooner. In the middle of the night that night I started having contractions and knew that it was time to head for the hospital. My mom was in town, so it was very easy to just leave the sleeping kids with her and go on to the hospital. That next morning when Caleb woke up and found out that baby Clayton was coming today, he very excitedly said "Yeah, that hot sauce really worked!" Oh, the thing they remember...
Of course Caleb and Kathryn were thrilled when the day came that we told them that yes, the baby was coming today. They loved having Nana pick them up from school that day and take them home for a couple of days while Russ and I were in the hospital. My parents came to sit with us in the hospital and wait for the baby. On Friday afternoon, Nana and Papa brought Caleb and Kathryn to finally meet thier new baby brother. They each came with little gifts to give the baby and they were also excited to see what gifts baby Clayton brought them! Caleb recieved a new big boy baseball glove and Kathryn got a new Cinderalla doll from Clayton. They kept wondering how baby Clayton got them these gifts when he was only zero :) Kathryn was thoroughly taken with the baby from the moment she laid eyes on him. She jumped right on the bed with me and wanted to touch him. She sat by him, rubbed his head, let him hold her finger and just stared at him. When we asked her what she was thinking, she said "I think I love him. Can he come home with me?" She was ready to take him home immediately! Caleb was really sweet to the baby too and loved him from the start. He went right to him and said "Hey baby Clayton, my name is Caleb." It was so sweet! They both wanted turns to hold the baby and sing to him. Kathryn sang "Jesus Loves Me" to him and there was hardly a dry eye in the room! It was one of the most precious things I have ever heard. Caleb's turn came and of course he was our comic relief by singing none other than the Superman theme song! I'm sure Clayton recognized this song since Caleb loved to sing it to my belly! They stayed for about 2 hours and enjoyed being with their new brother. It was really a very sweet time for our family.
We had some other sweet friends that came to the hospital to see us and welcome baby Clayton. They made the day even better!
We came home from the hospital on Saturday afternoon. It was a beautiful sunny day outside and we were anxious to get home. My mom made Clayton's coming home outfit. It is a precious smocked gown and it fit him perfectly. He looked so sweet!

Caleb and Kathryn were waiting at our house with Nana and Papa to welcome Clayton home. They were so ready for him to see their house! They had made a sweet welcome home sign that they hung outside our house with some balloons. They loved it and couldn't wait to show it to us!

Here is Clayton exhausted from his ride home from the hospital!
