Caleb's New Ride

For Caleb's birthday, Russ and I decided that we would take him to Toys R Us and let him pick out his first real bicycle. We first took him on Wednesday evening (his actual birthday) to try some of them out and choose one. We were amazed at how many choices there are - 10, 12, 14, 16 & 18 inch wheels! It's amazing how many choices kids have this day in age! Unfortunately, Caleb was not in a mood to try out different bikes and he ended up being very disrespectful to Russ, so we had to leave with no bike. It literally broke our hearts because it was his birthday and all, but he had to learn his lesson. He was extremely upset. Thankfully it did spark some great conversations for us to discuss how sinful we are and how we needed God to forgive us for our behavior, but I hated that he had to be so upset on his birthday!!! Anyways, after our long talk, we decided to take him to Toys R Us and try it all over again. We went on Saturday morning and he behaved wonderfully. He proved to us that he learned his lesson! He tried out lots of different bikes and decided on a dark blue one with orange accents along with a Lightening McQueen helmet. He was so excited to get home and ride it. He rode it to our neighborhood park later in the afternoon and loved it!

Here are som pics from our afternoon at the park:

Caleb decided to dress himself that morning and insisted on wearing a long sleeve shirt in 85 degree weather!

I had to throw in this picture of Kathryn in Russ' shoes. She LOVES to try on any shoes that are laying around. She looked so cute trying desperately to walk in them!

Happy 4th Birthday Caleb!!!

It is so hard to believe that our sweet Caleb is already 4 years old. It literally seems like yesterday when we brought him home from the hospital to start our new lives together. Now, 4 years later Caleb is such a joy in our lives and has brought sooooo much laughter and fun to our days! He is such a great big brother to Kathryn and she wants to be just like him~ and tries all the time. We are so proud of him and the boy that he is becoming. We love him more than words can say and we look forward to what God has in store for his 4th year!
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
We celebrated his 4th birthday this past Saturday afternoon. We invited family and some close friends over for an outer space party which was out of this world! Caleb wanted to have a "Space Buddies" themed party. His new favorite movie is the Disney movie Space Buddies, so he was set on having a party all about the cute little puppies that star in the movie. I tried and tried to find party ideas with the Space Buddies theme, but had no luck. So, we decided to just do a plain "space" themed party with some of the Space buddies thrown in to the decorations and party favors. We decorated the den with an inflated solar system and space ships, I made a space ship cake with the Space Buddies peeking through the windows, we had a jump house which we named the "Moon Walk", we played a game where the children had to find moon rocks hidden around the yard and we had lots and lots of fun! Caleb had a blast and was so fun to watch. His favorite part of the party had to have been when he got to open his presents. He must have asked 50 times when he could start opening. He had to wait until his little friends all had some time to play and jump, so he was very patient. But when he was given the go ahead to open, he tore into them. He got lots and lots of great presents and was thrilled about everything. I know he really had a special day!

Happy Easter!

We hope you had a wonderful Easter celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior!

We had a busy but fun Easter Sunday here at our house. It started very early this morning when we had to wake Caleb and Kathryn up at 6:45 to see what the Easter Bunny had brought them. I had to be at church at 7:15 to rehearse for the Easter music, so we decided to do our Easter before I had to leave for church. Caleb was so excited to see what was in his basket and he was overwhelmed! Kathryn didn't really quite understand what was going on. She was more interested in what was in Caleb's basket than her own! Russ was responsible for getting the kids dressed in thier Easter outfits and get them to church. I must say, he did a great job and he even fixed Kathryn's hair. What a dad! After church my parent's drove up from Greenville to spend the afternoon. We had fun playing with the kids outside and we ate a delicious roast dinner. We enjoyed spending time with them!

Beach Trip!

The kids and I headed out to the beach this past Monday and stayed until Friday. It was Spring Break here, so what better place to spend it than the beach? We had a great time with Nana and Papa and the we even got to swim in the hot tub despite all the cold weather! The Easter bunny came early to the beach house, so Caleb and Kathryn had fun getting some goodies. We bundled up and played outside a lot, colored easter eggs, had a picnic on the beach and even went to the zoo at Brookgreen Gardens. Caleb wore himself out swimming and he learned how to swim without any swimmies! He worked and worked at it and ended up doing very well! We were so proud of him and I can't wait to see how well he will do this summer!

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Yesterday, we went to a great Easter Egg Hunt hosted by Ryan and Erica McGee from our Sunday School class. We have been for the past couple of years and always have a fantastic time. They have a huge backyard that is absolutely perfect for an egg hunt. They hide hundreds of eggs around the yard and all the kids have a great time hunting for the eggs. It was a warm, beautiful day yesterday and we all had so much fun finding eggs, playing games and fellowshipping with our friends. Enjoy the pictures!
