Our Week with Jay and Stephanie

My brother Jay and his wife Stephanie visited us a few weeks ago for a whole week. They flew down from Crested Butte, Colorado and we were so excited to see them! We don't get to see them much at all because they live so far away, in fact it had been a year and a half since we saw them last! We do keep in touch and talk over Skype, so the kids were so excited to get to see them actually in person!

After lots of hugs and kisses when we first saw them, they immediately took Caleb and Kathryn outside play with silly string. Caleb and Kathryn had no idea how to do it and couldn't decide if they liked it at first. After a while though they saw how fun it was and started spraying away!

One of Caleb's favorite things to do at my parent's house is to play baseball outside. Uncle Jay was a trooper and pitched to him over and over and over...

The kids loved being chased by Aunt Steph, the "tickle monster" all week. Here she is showing off her hair that Kathyrn had done for her. Like the pink bow?

Snuggle time:

Clayton loved being held by Aunt Stephanie. I swear, she had the magic touch on him. Whenever he was fussy I just handed him over to her and he quit crying immediately! She was a great help with him!

Caleb has really gotten into bugs recently, so he was thrilled to find this inch worm out back. He captured it immediately and put it in a litte jar Mimi got for him with leaves and some water. Caleb carried his inch worm around proudly for the rest of the day. The next day we checked in the jar to see if the worm was still alive. To our amazement, the worm had doubled in size and was very fat!

On Sunday afternoon, all of my mom's family came over to eat and spend time with Jay and Stephanie. It was so nice seeing everyone and visiting all afternoon. It is always so fun for the the whole family to be together. I wish we could do it more often!

Kathryn used to be scared if Pop, but she loves him now. She loves to go and sit with him in his lap and he loves it too!

Caleb enjoyed playing outside with my cousin Hunt. They were buddies.

After all the family left, mom decided that she wanted Jay to show Caleb and Kathyrn what he loves to do. So he made a campfire in the back yard and we sat around it, talked and roasted marshmallows and made smores. Of course the kids loved the smores and Caleb was fascinated by the fire. Kathyrn on the other hand wanted NOTHING to do with the fire and wouldn't get close to it. She wouldn't even look at it! Caleb told everyone about it for the next couple of days and can't wait for Uncle Jay to come visit again and build another fire!

We had a wonderful visit with them and we were so sad to have to tell them goodbye. We hate being so far from them, but it makes the time together so much sweeter. We love them so much and look forward to our next visit!
