Our First Week

It is hard to believe how quickly time flies when you have a newborn. It seems as if we just go from 1 feeding to the next. Kathryn is a great baby and she eats and sleeps very well. She has been to the doctor this week to get weighed and she is already past her birthweight. She is very alert when she is awake and she just takes everything in. She has had a great first week and has slept through most of it. That is all but the time from 11:30 pm to 2:30 am! This is the time that she is the most awake. We have tried to keep her up more in the evenings, but that has not worked yet! We are hoping that she will get her days and nights worked out soon so that we can get some more sleep. It doesn't help that Caleb had decided to start waking up at 5:45 instead of his regular 7:00 am! He wakes up ready to start the day and he tells us that it is not too early! We are hoping that this is just a phase as well. Thankfully, my mom has gotten up with him when she was here and now Russ is. I get to sleep a little later in the mornings with Kathryn. We have had a lot of visitors this week to meet Kathryn. It is fun getting to introduce her to everyone. Caleb is adjusting very well to her. He has gotten used to the fact that she is not going anywhere and when she is asleep, he often asks where baby Kathryn is. He has started to share his toys with her. When I took her to the doctor a few days ago to get weighed, I took her out of her carrier and there was one of Caleb's new cars in there. It was great to see him already letting her have some of his favorite toys. He is also very gentle with her and knows that he must be very careful. He is already such a good big brother! Here are some of the pictures that I took over her first week. My Pop, Kathryn's great grandfather who is 87 years old came to visit from Greenville this past week. She was so tiny in his big hands!

I'm glad to know that it has been an easy transition! Hopefully it will that way in our family come October?!! I love the picture of your mother-in-law holding sweet Kathryn and a crying Caleb!!

What a VERY precious and beautiful baby girl! She looks so tiny in that sleep positioner....last time Austin was in it, he was about hanging off both ends! You forget how small they were at first! I can't wait to meet Kathryn and love on her!
Love you! ~ Meredith
